Verizon will launch LTE by showing that the industry is more mobile services industry has chosen Long Term Evolution (LTE) as compared to WiMax as the next generation of broadband connectivity technology. The claim was revealed by a senior executive Alcatel Lucent.
Patrick Plas, Chief Operating Officer for Alcatel-Lucent Wireless says, his company no longer pursue WiMax technology. As quoted from ZDNet, February 4, 2010, will launch LTE by companies like Verizon to show that the development chosen by the industry is toward LTE.
Plas is not the first state LTE (long term evolution of 3G) is on the roadmap of most of the operators. Even supporters of WiMax technology have been aware that they probably would be appropriate to serve a particular market.
According Plas, LTE-based handsets will likely begin appearing in early 2011. However, carriers like Verizon is more interested in the connectivity data in the early stages of these technologies.
Still, interesting to wait a description of the hardware manufacturers are still membaut and WiMAX devices to market.
